Senior QA Engineer

NexGen Storage is looking for an experienced and highly motivated person to join our growing Engineering team. You will play a key role in our software development and have the opportunity to challenge yourself and to further your knowledge in a highly energized, fast-paced and innovative environment. 

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be an active member of the engineering team, having technical and leadership responsibilities in all stages of the product lifecycle. You will be part of a team that develops, modifies, and executes software test plans; analyzes and writes test procedures; maintains documentation of results; and works closely with development engineers in resolution of problems. 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven design ability and the willingness to work in a collaborative and team oriented environment. We require a minimum of 8 years of experience in Product Test and/or QA validation.  A variety of test experience in storage, virtualization applications and/or enterprise applications is highly desirable but not necessary.

This position requires an individual who is creative, team-oriented, technology savvy, driven to produce results and demonstrates the ability to take a cross-team leadership role.

Responsibilities:

Lead and participate as part of a team responsible for:

- Gathering test requirements 

- Influencing test strategies and designs across teams

- Setting up and configuring lab and test environments

- Developing, implementing and executing test plans

- Contributing to test automation infrastructure by writing and augmenting test scripts and/or test libraries

- Investigating and driving found problems to resolution

- Writing test reports

- Test optimization

- Reading and understanding software and/or hardware design specifications as well as product requirements

- Reviewing and approving both design and test specifications

- Providing guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers 

- Participating in design reviews and driving recommendations for product quality and testability

- Providing subject matter expertise for at least one area of product functionality

- Leading teams in software test planning, automation, documentation and process improvement

- Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals

Qualifications:

- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Work collaboratively within a team of other engineers and have strong influencing and leadership skills

- Successfully lead teams through development and execution of project plans for an individual project or small team

- Proven abilities in the following disciplines: software testing, test case writing, automated script development and process improvement 

- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies

- Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices.

- Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation 

- Manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment

- Use judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for successful results

- Work with suppliers, partners or other external parties in product quality efforts as necessary

- Develop longer-range project plans and schedules for individual or work for a small team

Education:

- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.

- Demonstrated ability to have successfully led multiple, complex technical projects.

 

Software Engineer in Test

Job Description:

NexGen Storage is looking for a highly motivated person to join our growing Engineering team. You will play a key role in our software development and have an opportunity to challenge yourself and to further your knowledge in a highly energized, fast-paced, and innovative environment. As a Software Engineer in Test, you will be an active member of the team having responsibilities in all stages of the product cycle, from design, development and release of the product. There will be a strong emphasis on continually improving our automation framework, developing test cases and performing exploratory testing. We are searching for someone who is able to think creatively and critically while taking pride in shipping great, cutting-edge technologies.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Participate in driving the Quality of the product, all the way from requirement specification through release
- Improve and extend internal test frameworks and automated tests
- Perform exploratory product testing
 
Qualifications:

- B.Sc. (or higher degree) in Computer Science
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Experience with programming in high-level languages (e.g. C#/C++, Java and Python)
- Experience with Test Automation tools (e.g. JUnit, Hudson, FitNesse)
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work and participate in a team setting with an open, collaborative communication style
- Passion for testing and advanced testing as an engineering discipline
- Storage experience is a big plus
- Strong oral and written English

 

Customer Support Engineer

Job Description:

NexGen Storage is looking for a Customer Support Engineer who will remotely support hardware and software products for NexGen Storage end-user Customers, VARs and Partners.  The Customer Support Engineer position will require interaction with customers on the phone, email and other electronic media.
 
The successful candidate will have a technical background with troubleshooting skills at the network and OS levels. The candidate will also have organizational and professional skills to deliver the highest level of response to the customer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

-    Respond to post-sales customer support issues during normal business hours.
-    Collect pertinent information from customer and document case details in Case Management system
-    Technical troubleshooting of network storage solution issues and NexGen Storage product issues.
-    Manage customer issues, escalating to next Support Tier, engineering, or management when appropriate.
-    Participation in various company, team, and customer meetings.
-    Production of knowledge base articles and other documentation.
-    Occasional on-call and after hours support duties will be required.

Qualifications:

-    Qualified candidates will need to have a Bachelor's Degree or two to five years related experience and/or training in technical customer service.  Product specific training related to networked  storage products is a plus.

-    Technical knowledge and troubleshooting experience in one or more of the following is required: IP networking, iSCSI, storage technologies including RAID, SAN, and Solid State storage.  Fibre Channel experience will be a plus for our future products.
 
-    Technical knowledge and troubleshooting experience in one or more of the following Network operating systems is required:  Windows Server, Linux, Vmware, Xen.  

-    Experience with one or more virtualization products is desired, including Vmware, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft  Hyper-V.

-    Working knowledge of one or more common enterprise applications is desired, such as Exchange, SQL, and Oracle.

-    Technical knowledge of server hardware is a plus.

-    Exceptional customer management and communication skills, both verbal and written, as required to understand customer needs and ensure clarity on status of technical problems is required. Experience with one or more Case Management systems is a plus.
 
-    Candidate will possess a positive attitude, be willing to be part of a 24x7 team and help establish process and work flows.

-    Experience and/or passion for working in a start-up environment.

-    Candidate must be within commuting distance of Louisville, CO.

Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an active member of the development team, having technical and leadership responsibilities in all stages of the product lifecycle; from architecture, design, development and release of the product.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven design ability and the willingness to work in a collaborative and team oriented environment. We require a minimum of 7 years of experience using C++/C on a Linux, BSD or Solaris platform is required. A variety of storage experience and/or virtual machine experience is desirable but not necessary.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Designing, coding and debugging applications primarily in C/C++.

- Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, automated testing, performance tuning/optimization.

- Support, maintain and document software functionality

- Integrate software with existing systems.

- Strong problem solving and debugging skills

- Ability to work and participate in a team setting with an open, collaborative communication style

- High Engineering standards and a passion for developing leading edge software

Qualifications:

- B.Sc. in Computer Science. M.S. preferred.

- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience

- Experience with programming in C/C++

- Experience with collaborative development tools (SVN, ClearCase, Git, Code Review, profiling tools)
