NexGen Storage Releases Next Generation Virtualization Solutions using Fusion ioMemory

When it comes to fast, hybrid solid-state solutions, NexGen sets the bar high for the mid-range SAN market. The company has recently released a whitepaper showing just how fast and efficient its Fusion ioMemory and HDD solution really is.
NexGen’s comprehensive QoS implementation allows ioDrive2 technology to be shared with multiple applications simultaneously through virtualization, while managing performance distribution similar to allocating storage capacity. The QoS solution allows specific applications to be prioritized to ensure they receive the necessary resources. In legacy platform scenarios, the loss of system resources would cause the entire application spectrum to be impacted equally. With NexGen, user configured critical resources (shown below in green) are shielded from performance degradation beyond a predetermined threshold.

These ‘predictive performance’ QoS capabilities are not characteristics of mid-range SAN or NAS systems where workloads are connected with equalitarian access to all platform resources. When a specific workload spikes, all applications are impacted, causing performance to be volatile and inconsistent – two of the worst things in an enterprise environment.
NexGen’s QoS solution is so elegant and cost effective it has been nominated as one of the Virtualization Products of the Year by the Green IT Awards and the winner of 2012 Best Products Award by Network Products Guide.
